In India, the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency (TIKA) and Camia Millia Islamia University Turkish Language and Literature Department organized a conference on “Contemporary Perspectives on India-Turkey Relations”.

In the statement made by TIKA, it was stated that every aspect of Turkish-Indian relations was discussed from different perspectives at the conference.

In the statement, it was stated that scientific papers were published by approximately eighty academicians at the conference, which was attended by participants from Europe and America, especially from the Central Asian Turkish States.

Camia Millia Islamia University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Dr. Talat Ahmet, Turkish Language and Literature Program Coordinator Dr. Mouhsin Ali, Turkey’s Ambassador to New Delhi Burak Akçapar and TIKA officials attended.

Home hope for the homeless in Namibia

TIKA provided block machine support to 5,000 homeless families living in tin houses in the Erunga region of Namibia under difficult conditions and facing the danger of freezing in winter.

In the statement made by TIKA, it was stated that more than 20 thousand people, including children, migrated to the Erunga region from different cities, but due to financial inadequacies, live in tin houses.

In the statement, it was stated that the houses in the region were made of briquette stones and that the machines necessary for making briquette stones were provided by TIKA.

Supporting the “Home Acquisition Project” initiated by the Erunga Governor’s Office by providing two manual block machines, two concrete mixers and two molding machines, TİKA emphasized that families trying to survive in tin houses will have the opportunity to own a house within a year.

Speaking at the delivery ceremony, Regional Governor Hon C. Mutjavikua thanked the Turkish people for the support of TIKA and stated that they would never forget this help.

Stating that they applied to TIKA for the Home Acquisition Project and that their demands were quickly fulfilled, Governor Mutjavikua said, “Thanks to TIKA’s support, our people living in tin houses will now build their own houses in a short time.”

Mutjavikua also said that he will visit Ankara as soon as possible to increase cooperation and trade between the two countries.

Speaking at the ceremony, TIKA Middle East and Africa Department Head Kemal Özdemir stated that 5 thousand families in the Erunga region are struggling for their lives by living in tin houses, and that TIKA has implemented a 3-legged project with the governorship to solve the problem.

Reminding that TIKA carried out nearly 20 projects in Namibia during the year, Özdemir stated that they are happy to be a part of such a project and stated that TIKA’s aid to Namibia will increasingly continue.
