Turkish economy sets an example for Zambia

Zambian President Edgar Lungu stated that his country takes the economic development in Turkey as an example, “We want to reach our 2030 goals with the inspiration we get from Turkey.” said.

Lungu attended the meeting between delegations after meeting with President Recep Tayyip Erdogan at the Presidential Palace in the capital Lusaka.

Speaking here, Lungu expressed the hope that this visit will be an occasion for the advancement of relations between the two countries and stated that it is of great importance that private sector representatives and businessmen take part in the delegation. “The Turkish economy sets an example for Zambia. Thanks to Turkey’s support for his country in health, tourism and media, Lungu stated that the Zambian Minister of Health will visit Turkey soon in order to deepen the cooperation in the health sector.

Asked for support in electricity generation

Saying that he had some private meetings with Erdogan on electricity generation, Lungu said, “We expect your support from Turkish companies regarding electricity supply.” said. Noting that Zambia is seeking the financial support of Turkey for the eurobond payment of 3 billion, Lungu said that a Turkish company wants to sign an agreement on the repayment of Eurobonds and that they expect support from Erdogan in this regard.

“We provide facilities to Turkish companies”

Expressing that they are aware of the interest of Turkish entrepreneurs in Zambia, Lungu said, “We provide convenience to Turkish entrepreneurs especially in the field of construction. We have learned how successful social housing projects in Turkey are. ” He spoke in the form. Stating that Turkish companies can take advantage of opportunities in various fields in the country, Lungu emphasized that Zambia facilitates access to other countries due to its geographical location.

“We have 1 million hectares of arable land”

Lungu, who wanted Turkish Airlines (THY) to start direct flights to the country and pointed out that this will increase trade and social and cultural ties between the two countries, reminded that the airports in Zambia were renewed and modernized.

“Turkey shows great interest in agriculture and animal husbandry projects in Africa. We have 1 million hectares of arable land in 10 states, including livestock and fishing for various agricultural activities. ” used the expressions.
