Ersin Şahin, the General Manager of Erin Motor, stated that they produce 100% authentic Turkish designed domestic motors and they have a 92 percent localization rate in product cost, and that they compete with products produced in Europe in terms of quality and in Asia in terms of price.

The first engine of Erin Motor, which was founded 11 years ago by the second generation representatives of Şahin Metal, which has been exporting to world automotive giants for 31 years, and founded in 2015, is also an output of the SANTEZ project, which was developed with Yıldız Technical University. Engines with 100% Turkish original design and 2-year warranty are produced in the R&D Center approved by the Ministry of Industry.

“We exported to 6 countries”

Emphasizing that they produce engines that are environmentally friendly, save 20% fuel compared to their western competitors and work silently, Erin Motor General Manager Ersin Şahin said, “ We export our used engines since the day we put them on the market. In the next 5 years, we will change the course of trade from import to export. The most exported product is a generator. Until now, we have exported to 6 countries, both from Europe and Africa. Our goal is to achieve 51 percent export; then to bring this figure to the level of 70 percent ”.

“The American market will be a good challenge for us, too.”

Stating that America and Europe are among their target markets, Şahin said: “If you aim to produce value added in today’s world, your market target should be the whole world. Otherwise, it is very difficult to reduce your costs and compete. We want to open up to the European and American market with products in two different segments. The American market, which we have not experienced before, will also be a good challenge for us. While entering the African market with an easy-to-maintain engine and generator designed to operate in harsh conditions for long periods; The product we are planning to enter the American market will appeal to a completely different market. “

“There are 4 different projects that we care very much ahead of us”

Informing that they are producing in an area of 10 thousand square meters in Esenyurt, Istanbul, Ersin Şahin said, “Erin Motor’s founding philosophy has the aim of original engine design and production. Our aim to enter this sector is to produce high value-added products. We allocate a serious amount of resources to R&D activities since the first day. Our R&D center, which we established in June 2019, has completed 1.5 years and now there are 4 different projects that we attach great importance to. All of these products will be products to be produced for the first time in our country ”.

Noting that the interest and confidence in Turkish products increased with the pandemic period, Şahin continued his words as follows: “Made in Turkey” brand is more valuable outside our borders than in our own country. The main product we produce is a diesel engine and is mainly used in generators. In this context, we receive more demands from countries with infrastructure problems. Sub-Saharan African countries are at the top of these. However, it is possible to talk about the interest of Eastern European countries. Our engines compete with products produced in Europe in terms of quality and with products produced in Asia in terms of price. “
